Job Description:   Behavior Technician/Registered Behavior Technician

Central Michigan Care Behavioral Technicians (BTs) and Registered Behavioral Technicians (RBTs) practice behavioral therapy using the principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) under the direct and ongoing supervision of a Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA) or a Board Certified assistant Behavioral Analyst (BCaBA). The BT or RBT will work directly with a child with autism to implement all behavioral management programs as written by the supervisor. The BT or RBT will collect and maintain data on the progress of each program as well as perform certain assessments as directed by supervisor.

 

Job Functions (includes, but not limited to the following):

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of the fundamentals of ABA and have functional understanding of terms and practices

  2. Provide 1-on-1 therapy and play services to clients based on current Individualized Plan of Service (IPOS) as written by BCBA or BCaBA

  3. Demonstrate the ability to receive constructive criticism from supervisor and show progress in ability to work with children with aversive behaviors

  4. Maintain legible up to date records. This includes but is not limited to the following: sign in sheet, daily session notes, program data, and behavior data

  5. Have knowledge of and dutifully follow the ethics and regulations of ABA as specified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board

  6. Conduct one’s self in a professional manner when in the client’s home or in the community with the client

  7. Prepare for sessions in advance, gather materials, and exhibit time management skills

  8. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment

  9. Maintain confidentiality with all client records and information

 

This position requires the following prior to providing any services:

  1. Be at least 18 years of age

  2. Reliable means of transportation, valid driver’s license, and up to date auto insurance

  3. Pass Federal, State, and County background check

  4. Effective oral and written communication skills

  5. Able to communicate expressively & receptively to follow IPOS requirements, emergency procedures, and report on activities performed as well as the other requirements for the job

  6. Ability to lift 50 pounds, sit and play on floor, participate in moderate physical play

  7. 40 classroom hours in Applied Behavior Analysis techniques and principles in accordance with the BACB Guidelines for Responsible Conduct of Behavior Analysts*.

  8. Receive a National Provider Identifier (NPI) through the National Plan & Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) upon completion of 40-hour training (https://nppes.cms.hhs.gov/#/ )*

  9. BT/RBT staff must meet all requirements by the BACB for Registered Behavior Technician Task List*

  10. All staff must complete all required training through Central Michigan Care and Community Mental Health of Central Michigan (renewed annually)*

 

Experience

No prior experience is required. Behavioral Technician training and certification are provided upon hiring for those not certified before beginning employment with Central Michigan Care. Central Michigan Care is an equal opportunity employer.

 

Scheduling

Central Michigan Care offers flexible scheduling to BT/RBTs. BT/RBTs typically work with consumers 2-4 hours per shift. BT/RBTs can have a caseload of 2-5 clients ranging in age from 2-25 and can expect to be scheduled during the peak hours 3:00pm - 7:00pm Monday through Friday (weekend shifts are not typical but are possible). This can vary depending on the needs of our clients and their families. A fully trained BT/RBT therapist can receive, on average, 10-20 hours/week.
